Papelbon - the closer, even though he is very successful must figure out if he wants to be here full time. He must figure out if he wants to do what is necessary to become one of the greatest rather than simply talking about it. He must figure out how to throw more than one pitch that may or may not hit his intended target. In short, a 95 mph fastball isn't simply good enough to get past the likes of the Angels or most MLB teams that have talent on a consistent basis. A 2 seamer, a cutter, change, & or a splitter must be part of his repertoire. Paps, I love ya but simply put, Bard is begging to take your spot. Stop blabbing, and start pitching instead of just throwing real hard.
Lowell - Mike is a class act and a great hitter to have in the lineup. His swing is short and sweet with enough pop to get the home runs along with driving the ball in the gaps. Will the Sox move him and send Bitter Beer Face over to third full time? The time off for Lowell in the off season will certainly help the Sox make the best decision for the team.
DH Position - I would like to see the Sox use this as a resting position for their every day players rather than committing a spot (like Papi) to it. This spot would be great if you traded for Mauer, or simply wanted to give Lowell the day off from the field.
Alex - Great glove, with a better bat than expected. While Alex might not be the long term answer for the Sox, he certainly is entertaining and a secure option over at short. If Alex can simply bat above .250 he will be able to keep his home and pass the torch to another of Theo's projects.
Bay - Sign him.. please sign him! If you don't sign Bay, then it is an absolute must that you gain the services of Holliday.
JD Drew - Please someone tell this guy that playing at 100% all the time is impossible. I would really like to see this guy out on the field a bit more and become a tad more vocal. Please let us know some how, some way that you care about coming to work everyday. Otherwise, the fans don't know how to take him. I certainly don't know if he cares, however I do like that he doesn't hurt the team in the papers when baseball isn't going so hot. That being said, consistency would be appreciated.
Papi - Well what can I say??? I am still lost on why he wasn't that great of a ball player that we fell in love with a few years ago. Steroids wasn't the answer..right? So, then what was it Papi?Was it the fact that you showed up unprepared this year? Because, you looked awful at times. Papi often was too slow on the gas, and out on his front foot when a 2 seamer, change, or split was thrown. For the love of Zeus, you should have at least guessed through those at bats? I just don't understand how you can let a team down so badly as well as lie to the fans about why you stunk so badly.
Dice K - Please hit the gym, and don't let success get to your head again.
V-Mart- This is a great addition for the Sox, however I would like to see him at first more times than not. So, who will catch in his absence?
Starting Pitchers - We need Beckett to start pitching like a number one consistently. Lester has been a joy to watch. Hopefully Dice K realized that his way isn't always the best way, he must commit to his health in order to play for the Sox. He isn't a movie star yet. It seems that Clay has created a position for himself. He has the ability clearly. However, now he must do what ever is necessary to give the team 15 wins per year.
